Glimpse Image Editor
Glimpse is an open source image editor based on the GNU Image Manipulation Program 2.10.12. The goal is to experiment with new ideas and expand the use of free software.
A new name and logo, a cleaner UI, and fewer "easter eggs" make an already amazing open source software package feel more enterprise-ready. For improved performance and security on mission-critical workstations, we only include Python 2 runtime components in securely-sandboxed GNU/Linux packages.
Easier To Deploy
We provide regular maintenance releases on a predictable schedule so that you can more effectively deploy security updates and bug-fixes across machines on your network. The new Windows MSI installer we created can be imported into existing centralized software management tools, and each installation of Glimpse Image Editor on Windows only uses ~500MB of hard drive space. GNU/Linux users can also install Glimpse Image Editor from Flathub and Snapcraft.
More Usable (Coming Soon)
Now that we have a solid base to work from, and the right developer documentation and tooling in place, we aim to start including new usability fixes and improvements in future releases.
Cooperating, Not Competing
We have ensured that Glimpse Image Editor and the GNU Image Manipulation Program can be installed and run on the same machine so that users can make an informed choice. We also pass along a portion of our donations to the GNU Image Manipulation Program contributors, provide appropriate credit through our UI, and work closely with them so we can share our improvements and resolve any problems they raise with us.
Planning For The Future
"Glimpse NX" is a completely new permissively-licensed image editing program that is being written from the ground up with the D programming language and a bespoke cross-platform UI toolkit. We will provide more details about that exciting new project as it develops.
